NASA Astronaut Col. Patrick Forrester speaks on STEM

Patrick Forrester, a NASA Astronaut, explains how STEM is growing. STEM is becoming more than just a single field, it will also become a part of skills that people will need to have in order to go about their everyday lives.

“In the next decade, they predict that 80 percent of people applying for basic daily wage jobs will need to use skills in Math and Science,” Forrester said.

With that knowledge, Forrester encouraged people to not only learn STEM skills for daily jobs, but also to keep up with the world’s standards.

“I do believe that it is important to have a certain amount of students going through the sciences... for the nation as a whole so we’re competitive with other countries.”
