- Choose the right applications: Ideal are variable-torque applications such as centrifugal pumps and fans where output is generally throttled by a valve or damper.
- Be sure the current limit is set correctly and you have the right inverter for the current.
- Protect from harmonics and line ring-up.
- Evaluate old motors: They can fail quickly due to inadequate insulation.
- Be wary of running motors faster: In centrifugal applications, load rises as the cube of motor speed.
- Reduce speeds: If speeds are not reduced, there will be no energy savings.
